Aggie's Music

I usually blab about film scores on this blog, but I don't mind the occasional tangent towards other interests. :)

Psycho - Main Title scare

It's pretty pathetic, but funny when I look back at this memory.

Years ago, I was flipping through the channels one late night and found this playing. When I figured out it was the intro to Psycho, I thought it would be a good opportunity to finally see the film. However, Bernard Herrmann's sharp music gave me chills... I couldn't even watch the entire title scene. I just turned off the television and went to sleep in my safe bed. Hahaha, I was such a chicken. Listening to this right now, I can remember how scared I was... the music was loud, fast, and it just kept on going. It doesn't stop... the beat is constant and quick. I felt trapped inside the music.

A great score, nevertheless. I don't turn ghost white at Hitchcock films anymore. I don't think I'll ever go into detail with this score... it's too well-known.
